What's a Parent Share?

A parent share is a fun and helpful informal discussion held during your child’s class time in another room. This is your chance to talk with (or just listen to) me and other parents in your class talk about whatever is on your mind regarding parenting issues, ages and stages of development, your child’s and/or your role in the classroom, etc. Because these sessions are informal, you may come and go as you please. Siblings are welcome (please bring things to entertain them). Earn a parent education credit.

• First Aid Kits – Available for sale first week of October - $10 each
• Comedy Night – McCormick Woods Clubhouse – Sat October 22 – 8:00 p.m. – Tickets are $15 each.

Time to buy your Comedy Night tickets!  This is an amazingly fun night AND a great way to help raise money for our preschool!  The Great Cris (a “local legend”) is putting together a hilarious lineup of comedians just for us. The show is Saturday, October 22, at 8:00 p.m. at the McCormick Woods Golf Course Clubhouse.  Tickets are only $15 each.  Don’t forget to invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to join in this super-fun night!  Contact Teacher Mary, Teacher Kim, or Megan McFarlane for tickets. A variety of First Aid Kits will be available for you to purchase for yourself or gifts beginning the first week of October. They start at only $10 each and will make sure you are prepared anywhere you go – get one for your home, auto, sports events, camping, and even for your pets!  

Don’t forget – we are still looking for contributions of services or great gifts that may be raffled off during the year!

3rd Annual All-Hallows Eve Harvest Celebration

judging and costume contest (see below).

Music entertainment with Billy Farmer and

storytelling by the fire with Karen Haas. Make

sure to bring lawn chairs and roasting sticks for

your S’mores! Event will run rain or shine.

Ghoulish Goodie Hunt for children 7:20-8:00pm

Pumpkin Carving Contest:

Age 16 and up

At home, carve your pumpkin, make it scary or funny, pretty

or gory, old-fashioned or modern and then bring it down to be

judged by fellow community members for a chance to win a

prize! Judging will begin at 6 pm and run until 7:30.

Winner will be announced at 7:45

Costume Contest:

Age 15 and under

Come down in costume for a chance to win a prize. Judging will begin at 6 pm and run until 7:30. Winner will be announced at 7:45

Zucchini "rules"

My father-in-law was teasing me about the 6, (YES 6!) zucchini plants that I planted in the garden this year. Needless to say we have have zucchini out the wazoo!! Anyways he was laughing recalling a earlier time of his life living in Vernal, Utah when people began to start locking their doors at church! He revealed that this began due to zucchini harvest where folks were leaving their crop of zucchini in peoples vehicles! Well if you were at paper work in the park, you might have seen the zucchini labeled "help yourself!" That would have come from our crop this season which has taught me to NOT plant so many darn plants in the future. Since then, I was driving my child to preschool only to see this on our mail box, it seems, with the story from my father-in-law and this sight, I'm not the only one who is trying to rid of zucchini before it goes bad!

So if you too have an enormous amount of zucchini I urge you to #1 not ask me if I need any and #2 try making this fantastic recipe, (as I did!) that Teacher Mary shared with me!

ZUCCHINI RELISH

10 cups zucchini

4 cups onion

5 tablespoon salt

2 green pepper

1 red pepper

Grind and mix together and let sit over night

Add 2 1/4 cup vinegar

6 cups sugar

1 tablespoon each of nutmeg, turmeric. celery seed, cornstarch and dry mustard

Bring to a full boil and boil for 30 minutes.

put in Jars and water bath for 5 minutes

Gluten free peanut butter bookies

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 egg, lightly beaten
chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat oven to 350. Beat ingredients until blended and smooth. Shape dough into 24 balls, place on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten slightly with fork, bake 10-12 minutes or until set.
